Upgrade prompt at the plan limit
A user on your free plan has hit a limit.
What this template is for
The best moment to offer a paid plan is when people hit the limit themselves: the value is proven and the need is obvious. The window goes only to those who really need it, not to everyone.
What the user sees
| Step | Anchored to | Copy |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | — | You have reached the free plan limit Paid plans get unlimited projects and room for your whole team. |
The step anchors in a template are [data-tour="…"] placeholders. In the visual editor you point them at your own elements by clicking, or add that attribute in your markup; the copy is edited in the same place.
Why these defaults
- Audience: plan = free and projects > 2 — send these properties with Clew.identify().
- Pages with "/projects" — where the limit is felt.
- Once: a plan reminder on every visit is a sure way to churn people.
- Priority 30 — above onboarding: this is the money conversation at the right moment.

What to measure after launch
Clicks on "See plans" per view and payments within a week. Button clicks are in the stats in Clew; payments are in your billing.
What to A/B test. Compare copy about the limit ("0 projects left") with copy about the gain ("Unlimited projects and your team").
