Free UX research tools: surveys, NPS, SUS, Kano
Plan a survey with enough responses and turn the answers into standard scores: NPS, CSAT, CES, SUS and Kano categories. Each calculator follows the published method, shows confidence intervals and explains how to interpret the result.

When you need them
Planning a survey
Find how many responses you need for a given margin of error and population, and set up a Kano questionnaire to learn which features users expect.
Scoring the answers
Calculate NPS, CSAT, CES and SUS from raw answers with confidence intervals, and compare the scores with industry benchmarks.
FAQ
How many survey responses do I need?
For a large population, about 385 responses give a ±5% margin of error at 95% confidence. The survey sample size calculator adjusts for smaller populations and expected response rate.
How is the SUS score calculated?
For odd items subtract 1 from the answer, for even items subtract the answer from 5, sum the ten values and multiply by 2.5. The average SUS score is about 68; above 80 is considered good usability.
What is the difference between NPS, CSAT and CES?
NPS measures the likelihood to recommend, CSAT satisfaction with a specific interaction, and CES how much effort a task took. They answer different questions and are best used together.
How does Kano survey analysis work?
Each feature gets a functional and a dysfunctional question. The pair of answers maps to a category — must-be, performance, attractive, indifferent, reverse — and the analyzer calculates Better and Worse coefficients.
Can I paste raw survey exports?
Yes. The calculators accept pasted columns of answers or aggregated counts, and nothing is uploaded.
Are these UX research tools free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up and no limit on surveys or responses.
